Public Procurement Expo

An ‘Expo’: Public Procurement and meeting the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act Goals at ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï’s Neuadd Reichel Hall on Tuesday 4 February, will bring procurement officers from across the north Wales public sector, academics and other leaders in public procurement together to collaboratively explore how public bodies can use more sustainably produced, local food and meet the Well-being Goals.

Dr Eifiona Thomas Lane and KESS 2 funded PhD student Luke Prosser studying Geography at ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï will give a presentation on the Well-being of Future Generations Act, and the opportunities for delivering on the wellbeing goals through local food procurement.

Also speaking will be representatives from the National Advisory Board for Dynamic Food Procurement, Crown Commercial Services and Food for Life.

This event, hosted by Môn Larder, Menter Môn and the Welsh Government’s Food and Drink Wales Division, relates directly to research currently being undertaken in the geography courses at Bangor, and especially Luke Prosser’s PhD on sustainable food and drink supply chains for Wales, and wider research into sustainable food industries by Dr Eifiona Thomas Lane and Rebecca Jones.

This event encapsulates the ongoing commitment to knowledge exchange between the University, academics and wider organisations and public bodies in north Wales.

Luke Prosser’s research scholarship with Menter Môn is funded under the Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships (KESS) Programme. KESS is a major European Convergence programme led by ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï on behalf of the HE sector in Wales. KESS 2 is part-funded by the Welsh Government’s European Social Fund (ESF) Convergence programme for West Wales and the Valleys, KESS 2 supports collaborative research projects (Research Masters and PhD) with external partners based in the Convergence area of Wales (West Wales and the Valleys).  Both the Research Masters and PhD elements are integrated with a higher-level skills training programme, leading to a Postgraduate Skills Development Award. KESS 11 will run until 2022 and will provide 600+ PhD and Research Masters opportunities across Wales.
