Ms Thipkanlaya Jaiaue

Overview

After completing my undergraduate degree in physical therapy and gaining five years of experience as an orthopedic physiotherapist, I decided to further my academic pursuits.

Currently, I'm a PhD researcher in psychophysiology at ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï (), under the supervision of and . My research focuses on understanding the nature of cognitive workload and mental fatigue, employing diverse assessment methods including self-report questionnaires, behavioral performance analysis, and measurements of psychophysiology such as ECG, EOG, and EEG.

Qualifications

  • MSc: Applied Sport & Exercise Physiology
    2022
  • BSc: Physical Therapy
    Mahidol University, 2016

Teaching and Supervision

Experienced as a graduate instructor for Psychology and Sport Sciences undergraduate students by running

  • Practical sessions in the Strength and Conditioning module: Focus on developing students' skills in creating tailored training programs for specific sports
  • Seminars in the Research Methods module: Focus on providing hands-on training on various types of analysis relevant to their field
  • Practical session on Stress and Performance module: Focus on demonstrating the impact of stress on performance through an experimental approach
  • A Lecture in Foundations of Sports/Exercise Psychology module: Focus on executive function domains and their assessment through cognitive tasks

Research Interests

I am committed to advancing our understanding of the mechanisms underlying cognitive workload and mental fatigue. My research examines how sustained high cognitive demand influences attentional engagement and parasympathetic function. I also investigate subtle neural activity patterns that emerge under both underload (low-demand) and overload (high-demand) fatigue states. In addition to uncovering these mechanisms, my work introduces a novel experimental paradigm designed to address key limitations in previous research—enabling more reliable, efficient, and ecologically valid induction and assessment of mental fatigue. Ultimately, this research aims to generate actionable insights that inform targeted interventions to enhance cognitive performance, resilience, and wellbeing in high-demand environments.

  • A novel protocol to maximise cognitive workload for all individuals at all times, maintaining high cognitive demand with full engagement and arousal, while also reducing the timeframe for experimental tasks in cognitive workload and mental fatigue studies.
